Should you size up in adidas Sambas?
Take over the indoor football field with speed and ultimate grip. A classic for a reason, these lightweight shoes have comfort and responsiveness so you can play your game the way you intend. They're easy to break in, and you should choose your regular size or go up half a size for a wider fit.
adidas Sambas have a regular fit, but some people find them to be slightly narrow. If you have wider feet, go up half a size for a little more room. Measure your feet and check the adidas Samba size chart to find your size.
Adidas sizing is generally true to size. The label themselves advise that for a more loose feel, you should go up a size or, for a more snug fit, try a size smaller. These are, after all, relaxed sports-oriented pieces that need to fit your particular lifestyle.
They come a bit snug because they were probably designed for futsal (soccer). However, most sambas have leather upper and should stretch and mold to your feet. The softer the leather, the quicker is the break in period. Toe box should also give you more room over time as the leather stretch upwards.
Adidas sneakers run true to the Brannock Standard — a.k.a. true to size. Their size chart confirms it. But it also makes mention of those between sizes: "For a tight fit, go one size down. For a loose fit, go one size up." This is especially pertinent to the Stan Smith style.
Beyond style, Sambas are great for some of your athletic pursuits as well, like for biking to work, skateboarding, or light hikes (who doesn't love a stylish and practical shoe). Best of all, Sambas are comfortable and can go with almost anything, so they're pretty much the perfect everyday sneaker.
As a general rule, always size up. Only size down if it says that the shoes run large. You can always stuff the toe to make a larger shoe fit.
adidas sizing converts slightly differently compared to most American shoe brands (except New Balance). North American brands use a factor of one between US and UK sizes – meaning a US 10 size converts into a UK 9.
Overall, you'll be fine going for your true size when buying the adidas Adilette slides, including the Adilette 22. If you are in between sizes, then you will want to size up, rather than down, as this gives you room to wear socks. Unlike Yeezy Slides, there's no reason to size up apart from this reason.
Anyone well-versed in soccer culture knows of the Adidas Samba. Originally made as a shoe for better traction on icy soccer fields in the United Kingdom, it was later transformed into an indoor soccer shoe.
Why are sambas sold out?
The Samba closed out 2022 as one of the hottest items in fashion, leading to a shortage earlier this year. The $100-dollar black OG Sambas, and its vegan counterpart, were reportedly sold out, for a time, on the Adidas website.
Just like other varieties of adidas Superstars, these ones fit true to your usual shoe size. From the 3-Stripes classic sneaker to limited-edition platforms, high tops, slides and more, adidas Superstars are designed to fit you in your usual shoe size – no need to size up or down.
The further you run the more your foot will naturally expand. This means it's wise to have just a little extra room (about a thumb's width) between your longest toe and the front of the shoe. With this in mind, your running shoe should be around a half size larger than the shoe size you usually get.
To the untrained eye, the Gazelle might not look too dissimilar from the Samba and, in truth, that's right. But, while the differences might be subtle — the all-over suede, the higher midsole, the slightly longer tongue — they make all make difference when it comes to complimenting an outfit.
As seen in the picture below, Nike trainers are actually a touch bigger than adidas running shoes, thus making them a full 44 in EU sizing. What is this? As a result, it seems as though Nike shoes, particularly running trainers, fit true to size, while you may need to go half an EU size larger in adidas sneakers.
Nike dominates the global sneaker market with a 65.9% market share, while Adidas has a 14.7% market share. This statistic is a powerful indicator of Nike's dominance in the global sneaker market. It shows that Nike has a clear lead over Adidas, with more than four times the market share.
1. Is Adidas better than Nike? Yes, financially Nike shoes are known to be much larger than Adidas shoes, but the latter's performance has been better over recent years.
Celebrity style and social media influence has made a big impact on the Samba's popularity, but all-in-all it's just a good shoe. It's at an accessible price point, and although OG colourways sell out with the quickness, there's almost always restocks. Do you want to learn more about the adidas Samba?
They WILL break in. The leather is more substantial compared to recent years, but after break-in they will feel sturdy yet comfortable. I wear them for everyday shoes and for working out.

Should I go half a size up or down?
If you're between sizes, we recommend going up. As you can see, the difference of one whole size is only about a half-inch (less than 1 centimeter). The difference of a half size is—at most—a quarter of an inch. Opting for a larger shoe won't make a huge difference in fit, but it will be more comfortable overall.
The only time that you could wear a shoe in a bigger size is when purchasing a sneaker but you should only go up about half a size. The reason for this is that our feet tend to swell because fluid accumulates due to gravity with prolonged standing and weight baring activities.
A half-size represents a 1/8” difference. It may not seem significant but is enough to distinguish between comfort and discomfort. Because there is no standardisation for shoe sizing, a half size difference will also depend on the brand of shoe. With some makes, a half size will be more significant than others.

How does the Air Force 1 fit? The Air Force 1 feels slightly bigger than other silhouettes. However, I'd still recommend opting for your true size if you don't mind a slightly roomy fit. Of course, if you prefer a snug fit or have narrow feet, you might want to size down by half a size.
Nike is a sportswear brand established in the United States, while Adidas is based in Germany. Nike's critical market consumers are basketball and running athletes, whereas Adidas' primary market buyers are tennis and soccer.
Sometimes, it's better to go one or half a size bigger than your regular shoe size, as during the day your feet may expand, especially during the warmer months or if you're standing for long periods of time. By sizing up, you're allowing your feet enough room to expand without your sandals becoming too tight.
Should I Size Up Or down for Slides? When it comes to slides, there is no one-size-fits-all answer – it depends on the style of the slide and your personal preferences. If you're unsure, we recommend trying on both sizes to see which feels more comfortable. Generally speaking, however, most people size down for slides.
Yeezy Slide sizing is not true to size, unlike many other Yeezy sneakers. The fit of the Yeezy Slide runs small. If you have a more narrow foot and want to achieve a snug fit, go a half size up. Like all adidas Yeezy footwear styles, the Yeezy Slide is offered in a wide swath of versatile, mostly neutral colors.
I went with the Samba Classic, the iteration with the extended tongue — the pair truly meant for indoor soccer. It has higher arches, a longer tongue and is easier to slip in and out of. The OG, on the other hand, has almost no arch support, much like the Chuck Taylor-All Star, and a much shorter tongue.

While the Samba Classic resembles the OG, it features a slew of extra details that make it unique. The Classic was created for indoor soccer use, and it boasts an extended tongue and a lightweight synthetic build with non-marking, EVA-injected soles.
In recent years, the classic Stan Smiths came back into the spotlight—they're Adidas' best-selling shoes to date and ones that we've tested and loved. Now, the Gazelles, Sambas and Campus 00s are ready for a takeover in 2023, and they all make great Mother's Day and Father's Day gifts as the holidays creep up.
Not only does wearing tight shoes cause damage to your feet, but it can also cause damage to other parts of your body. As your body adjusts your gait and posture due to the pressure from your tight shoes, your legs, hips, lower back, and other muscles can become strained.
Tight shoes can cause even more problems. They can: make you unstable on your feet. deform your toes, produce blisters between your toes, and aggravate structural problems like hammer toe, mallet toe, and bone spurs.
Tight-fitting shoes might cause swelling and aches in the ball and heel of your feet. Shoes with tight ankle support can lead to swollen ankles and reduced circulation.
